CASTLE GARDEN AND SURROUNDINGS

Cabbage, herbs, flowers

In front of the castle on the levelled rampart between the two moats grow cabbages, root plants, legumes and flowering shrubs. Just like in the days of the bailiff’s wife, the castle gardener ensures that vegetables, spices, and medicinal herbs all thrive.
Take a stroll alongside the boxwood bordered beds and enjoy the Zurich style of baroque gardening.

Around the castle

The front side like a castle, the rear like a mighty fortress rising high above steep slopes – the ring wall path, reopened in 2017, shows these two different characters of Kyburg Castle. To the south you see the stately residence of the bailiffs, to the north the fortified knight’s castle.
